Hartsel Local Events: What’s Happening Now and Ahead

Hi neighbors — Michael Garcia here with your up-to-date rundown on what’s going on in Hartsel today and in the near future. Whether you’re looking for music, nature, or community gatherings, there’s something happening for you.

Today’s Highlight

• Hartsel Fire Protection District Board Meeting – The Board meets at 10:00 AM today at the HFPD Headquarters, 131 Elm St. All are welcome to attend and participate in local governance. (Note: a Stage II burn ban is currently in effect.)

Upcoming Events You’ll Want to Know About

Badger Music & Arts Festival

From August 13 to 16, Hartsel becomes the site of a camping and immersive arts experience under the High Desert sky. Expect live electronic music, participant-built art installations, theme camps, and a potent new-moon/pre-meteor shower bash to kick things off. This is intimate, boundary-pushing fun at 9,000 feet.

South Park Volunteer Day at Santa Maria Ranch

Looking for a way to give back and explore the land around Hartsel? Head out to the Santa Maria Ranch for volunteer work, free camping, and hikes. The event spans a Friday through Saturday, with the property open afterward for visitors or those heading off on solo adventures.

Ongoing & Evergreen Opportunities

• Historical Sites to Explore: Stop by the Hartsel Depot, Hartsel Schools, and Salt Works Ranch. These are designated historic landmarks and great options if you want a self-paced dive into local heritage.

• Wild Horse Reservoir Project Updates: Aurora Water is hosting public forums and local outreach events (both in-person and virtual) to share developments and gather input on reservoir planning. Subscribe for updates so you can stay in the loop.

Tips Before You Go

• Double check event times and locations ahead of time—things like burn bans or weather can affect outdoor plans.
• Pack snacks, water, and layers if you’re heading out for festivals or ranch visits—Hartsel’s high elevation can surprise you.
• Support local businesses when you can: vendors, artists, and restaurants often make these events possible.
